"The Avengers" star Chris Hemsworth will be wielding a massive hammer in the highly-anticipated, hero-packed flick but, other than that, the Australian actor is still in the dark about the nuances of his role.

When the "Thor" actor stopped by the Scream Awards red carpet on Saturday, he told MTV News that he hasn't laid eyes on a script for the 2012 release.

"I'm extremely excited to see it. I talked with [director] Joss [Whedon] right when he first came on board about his ideas and what he planned on doing about it," Hemsworth said. "But I have yet to see a script."

He may not know the details of the script, but Hemsworth is familiar with Whedon, who he has worked with in the past. He assured us that the guy behind fantasy hits such as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" will carve out some great material for the rising actor.

"[Whedon] produced 'Cabin in the Woods,' which Drew Goddard directed, and he was very collaborative in the whole process and was fantastic," Hemsworth gushed. "I got to know him on a personal level too and have all the confidence in the world in him."

The actor is pulling major Marvel duty leading the film "Thor" and bringing the superhero's Norse muscle the all-star "Avengers" adventure alongside Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson. Hemsworth has to pack on the brawn for both movies and said that he's ramping up his fitness regimen to build superhuman musculature.

"It's been a bit like that for the last year or so. I'm starting to up the calories and head back in the gym and start slowly putting it back on," he said, adding that the pumped-up physique "helps you feel a bit like the character."

Hemsworth recently got the chance to show off his bulk when he appeared as his onscreen alter ego on the cover of the British movie magazine Empire, an experience he relished as a longtime fan of the publication.

"That magazine is something that back in Australia I grew up reading and saving up my pocket money to buy," he said. "So to be on the front of it is mind-blowing."
