Katy Perry will serve as the musical guest on Saturday's season premiere of "Saturday Night Live," and if the singer has it her way, she'll be able to showcase her acting chops in a sketch with "SNL" alum Amy Poehler and the rest of the variety-show gang.
"I'm excited to be on 'Saturday Night Live,' because I think it's hilarious," Perry told "Access Hollywood." "I would stay up late after my parents would go to sleep and watch them. I'm hoping they will let me do a skit. I really want to do a skit. I brought my whipped-cream boobs, so if they do a sketch involving a barista — you know, coffee-making — I could be helping the people out."
This isn't the first time the pop star has expressed interest in doing a little improv with the "SNL" cast. Even before announcing her musical-guest duties, the singer tweeted, "Dear Amy Poehler can I please be your braced faced neighbor friend that hangs out with you & RICKKKKK!"
But if the soon-to-be wife of comedian Russell Brand doesn't get a chance to crack a joke, she is ready to put her all into her performances. "This summer has been so fantastic for me, so I wanted to come back with a bit of an end-of-summer celebration singing 'California Gurls' and 'Teenage Dream,' " she told "Access Hollywood." "I'm really excited to do that, because I've performed them so many times that I feel like now I'm at my prime performing these songs and so I get to bring that to 'Saturday Night Live.' "
Despite watching the show while growing up, Perry admitted that she was surprised at the size of the show's stage, saying, "When you actually get here, you see the stage is tiny. Because you see it on TV all these times, and you're like, 'Wow. Look at what people have done with the stage,' and when you get there, you're going, 'Oh my gosh, it's as big as my bathroom floor. Now dance! Now perform!' "
While Perry is set to make her debut on the sketch-comedy show, there's one show you won't find her on: "Sesame Street." The singer's cleaned-up rendition of "Hot N Cold," which was originally scheduled to air later this year, was pulled from the broadcast because of early complaints about the singer's low-cut dress.
